No More Crash Dieting

The big buzz right now is to lose weight fast & lose weight now! It is vital that we learn the proper way to eat, instead of going on perpetual diets and that we definitely start to make life style changes. The only way to do it now or to do it fast is to start now and start fast .... eating right!

The things to start now and start fast, are drinking lots of water (6 to 8 glasses a day) which washes out the toxins and fat as weight is lost and add daily exercise. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables (5 to 9 servings a day) and take 1 day at a time instead of rushing the process.

The next thing that we can do every day to help us to reach our weight loss goals quicker is to take our time and really chew every bite thoroughly and to deliberately enjoy it - which will help to fill us up quicker and then we will be satisfied with less food.

Also, let us educate ourselves on the basics of nutrition, weight loss and exercise and find the things that work best for our bodies then perform appropriate exercises for our body at least 3 times a week.

Above all let us pray for God’s help. The Bible says that without God, we can do nothing (John 15:5), but we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Philippians 4:13) - because Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6).

6 Tips To Healthy Dieting

With so much hype and so many different types of diets available, there is no lack of choices for all dieters. However, there are just as many dieters who tried diet after diet and never getting the results that they want. Most people just want to lose their weight fast and hence often adopt less than healthy diets or even starvation in order to reach their weight loss goal. Most often than not, they end up losing the weight really fast initially and then only to gain back more weight doubly fast!

What they failed to realize is that to successfully lose weight and to maintain the weight loss, what they really need to change is their mindset and their lifestyle by including healthy dieting and regular exercise. This is the real secret to effective and permanent weight loss!

Healthy dieting involves losing weight over a period of time and the best part is that you need not starve! Nutritious food including a balance of proteins, carbohydrates, some fats, fruits and vegetables are taken in suitable portions in the diet. Food high in fats and sugars should be eliminated as much as possible from the diet.

6 tips to healthy dieting to get you started :

1. Drink water instead of other drinks. Drinks like soda are often high in sugars and should be avoided. If water is too bland for you. You can try green tea instead ( without the milk and sugar please! )

2. Replace desserts with sweet juicy fruits. This is one big calorie saver! Cut down on your jellos, puddings, cakes and the likes with fresh fruits instead. Not only are fresh fruits delicious, they provide you with a blast of vitamins and fibers that are superb for your health.

3. Eat smaller portions of meals. Start to cut down on the portion of food you are eating. You can start small by just eating 10% less of everything. Eating less 10% every meal may not sound like a lot but after 10 days, you would have eaten 100% less of whatever you usually eat!

4. If you have a sweet tooth, try to replace the sugars in your beverages and food with sugar replacement. If you are out with friends, instead of taking on the entire dessert by yourself, share the dessert with friends!

5. Eat only when you are hungry. Always think before you eat. If you are just feeling bored, then do not eat but find something else to keep you occupied!

6. When you go grocery shopping, always make a shopping list beforehand. Go to the shop and focus only on getting the food you need on the shopping list. This saves you from buying junk food impulsively and more money in your pocket at the end of the day.

Dieting Mistakes to Avoid

Many people set out to lose weight with good intentions of sticking it out until they reach their goals. In fact, they intend to lose those unwanted extra pounds for good without ever seeing them again. So then, why is it that so many people lose weight only to gain it all back again? And why is it that so many people get frustrated and quit trying before they even lose any weight?

Of course dieting to lose weight takes some planning and some will power to stay with it, but a big part of the reason why so many people seem to be on a perpetual diet but never seem to lose weight often has less to do with their will to want to do it, and more to do with falling victim to some common mistakes dieters regularly make. Let's look at some of these mistakes and some solutions to them.

One big mistake that dieters make is assuming that certain foods can be eaten in high quantities such as fat-free foods. It needs to be understood that just because a food is fat-free doesn't mean it is calorie free. When you consume more calories than you use, you will gain, not lose, weight.

Many people who tried one of the many low-carb diets out there thought that they could eat as much as they wanted as long as the food they ate had low or no carbs. This way of thinking is wrong. It is still a matter of controlling the size of your portions that makes the difference. Keeping track of your overall calorie intake each day is imperative to a proper weight loss plan.

Another mistake that is made by dieters is expecting too much too soon. When you come to the conclusion that you want to lose 30 pounds, this is a realistic goal. When you decide that you want to lose those 30 pounds in one month, this is not a realistic goal. Maybe your 25th high school reunion is coming up and you want to be able to fit into that dress or suit you wore 25 years ago.

This is only possible if you take the time to allow yourself to properly attain that goal. Weight loss is best done at 1-2 pounds a week, not at 1-2 pounds a day, so set a small goal of say losing 5-7 pounds in a month, then set another similar goal and so on, until you reach your ultimate goal.

Not eating enough is yet another common mistake dieters make. The fact is, if you eat too little calories, your metabolism will slow down and you will go into what is known as "starvation mode". This promotes major fat conservation for survival purposes and any weight loss will therefore come from the breakdown of muscle tissue, not fat! For the average adult female, it is not recommended to consume below 1000 calories and the average adult male should not consume below 1200 calories unless under the direction of their doctor.

One of the biggest mistakes dieters make by far is not planning for how to keep their weight down once they lose it. Often, people make the mistake of going on a "miracle" diet that promises super weight loss and although these types of diets are very dangerous and I absolutely do not recommend them, some people actually do lose weight on them. The problem is, these types of diets are designed to end at some point (which is a good thing since you would probably make it into the obituaries with a prolonged stay on these diets). That means that you would likely resume your old habits when it's over thus accounting for the returning of all the weight you lost on the diet.

Of course getting some exercise is a key part in successful weight loss as well, but putting together a well thought out eating plan designed to stay with you for the rest of your life is the real key to taking that extra weight off and keeping it off for good. Be careful not to get caught making the mistakes mentioned here and you will have a much better chance at weight loss success.

3 Rare Dieting Tips

You probably have read and tested all the diets on the market! So have I! I know that I should stop snacking, avoid sugar/chocolate/cookies, whatever tastes so good! I know I should exercise more, but hey, can someone do my chores so I can go to the gym?! If there is a diet, I have tried it. So try these easy tips instead, which are not a diet.

1 - Brush your teeth after every meal to get the peppermint taste in your mouth. Clean, peppermint breath kills the urge of eating. Mixed peppermint and sugar or food tastes bad!

2 - Drink coffee before you exercise. Caffeine makes the fatty acids work better in your blood, which again means you burn more fat. 5 cups of coffee daily is recommendable, a new research shows that 5 cups a day protects against several diseases. But no more than 5 cups!

3 - Eat apples. A research in Washington State showed that by eating 3 apples a day you can lose up to 20 pounds in three months. The fiber in the apples reduces the cholesterol and helps your digestion. And by reducing the cholesterol it's healthy for your heart!

These three tips are easy to include in your daily routines. They are no sacrifice like most of the diets.

Dieting Mantra

Dieting is basically done to lose excess weight. But dieting actually is managing your diet so as to keep your body healthy and fit. Even people with underweight also go for dieting to manage their weight.

When you think of weight loss and losing weight the few initial things that probably come to your mind are either those “lose weight fast !” or “Guaranteed weight loss” articles that you see in every magazine, newspaper, websites or guaranteed by many fitness centers.

Weight loss is simple, burn more calories than you consume. If you can fully understand that, than you are on your way to losing weight.

There are six simple steps to a slimmer you

  • Count how many calories you eat in a normal day. That’s right, wake up and eat like you would normally eat and count the calories in everything you eat and everything you drink and keep track of it on a piece of paper or on the computer somewhere.
  • At the end of that day, add up the number of calories you ate/drink. Be as exact as possible.
  • Starting the day after you counted calories; eat 500 calories LESS than you normally do. So, let’s pretend that the day you counted calories you counted 2000. For the rest of the week, you would eat 1500 calories a day.
  • Instead of eating three big meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), or eating all day all the time, spread those calories out over five smaller meals. Eat one meal every two and a half to three hours. By doing this you can speed up your metabolism.
  • Cardiology workouts is an important part of weight loss. If you are serious about losing weight, but don’t want to do the cardiology workouts, then you are requiring your diet to do all of the work. Jog, walk, swim, jump rope, ride a bike, take an aerobics class, whatever……cardiology workouts + proper diet = better than just doing one of the two.
  • At the end of that week, weigh yourself. You’ll notice a difference just after one week! Now, don’t expect to see a 20 pound difference. But if you have a LOT of weight to lose, you can lose it.

But very few people who are on dieting know what is the safe and effective way to go for dieting, when should they do dieting, what can be the side effects of their dieting program, whom should they consult and what should they do before and while on dieting

It is advisable that one should have proper knowledge of various dieting programs and dieting tips they follow. In the process of dieting the most important consideration should be on the diet. The diet should be taken in a way so that rather than adding up calories it should add nutritional content to the body.

So if you are on dieting or planning to go for any dieting program first make yourself aware of various types of diets, low carb diets, healthful diets, side effects of ineffective dieting programs, effective and safe weight loss programs.
